These scalp treatment prevent headache, prevent premature graying of hairs, increases the strength of skull
Increases the strength of hairs and provide nourishment to scalp, provide hair growth and proper color to hairs. Increase the power of cognitive organs, gives mindfulness, peace. Induces sound sleep. These are general effects of scalp treatment.

But if we see practically Shirodhara is most relaxing and efficacious treatment among these scalp treatments

SHIRODHARA
Shirodhara also named as shiroseka
Shiro word stands for head,
Dhara /seka –pariseka these words stand for flow

DEFINITION
When oil or decoction or milk or buttermilk is poured on the forehead from certain height, with constant speed, with proper flow, with constant temperature, for certain time duration the procedure is called as Shirodhara

Various kinds of plane or medicated oils are used for Shirodhara. Generally coconut oil is the choice of oil for Shirodhara. Other oils like sesame, almond oils can be used.
Medicated oils are used as follows
   Sudhabala tailam/coconutoil
   Baladhatyaditailam /coconut oil.
   Thiphaladi coconut oil
   Karpasastyadi tailam/coconut oil
   Mahabrungrajtailam…………..etc

INDICATIONS
   Chronic headaches
   Seaborric dermatitis
   Insomnia
   Dry hairs and split hairs
   Stress induce disorders
   Relaxation

CONTRAINDICATION
   Acute fever
   Indigetion
   Sinusitis
   Rhinitis
   Severe debility

METHADOLOGY
   First do head massage to the scalp with lukewarm oil
   Then give relaxing massage to the rest of body part
   Ask the subject to lie down on massage table
   Adjust the height of head unit of ‘ASU’ according to the forehead of subject
   Feel the required oil in the container of base unit .select the required temperature
   Adjust the required time, and then switch on the machine
   Enjoy the ‘ASU’ Shirodhara and relax
   After completion of required time, wipe out excess oil from head, give gentle head massage.
   And ask subject to Relax for certain time period
   Wash the hairs with Ayurveda herbal preparations
   Give hot shower; wipe out excess water from scalp.
   Apply ‘Rasnadi churna on center of scalp
   Ask the subject to rest.
